Nora Roberts on the little screen

Has everyone heard about the Lifetime movies being done for four Nora Roberts books? I hadn't. They're doing:

I think all the movies are going to air in February. I'm not thrilled by the idea of Heather Locklear as Reece in Angels Fall. And I don't know who most the rest of those people are, even after looking at their credits on IMDB.

But I'm definitely going to check out Montana Sky. First because I think it's my favorite Roberts book of all time. Maybe partly due to nostalgia, since it was the first of hers I ever read. But I still think it's one of her best. And I LOVE John Corbett. And he's been in some crappy movies, but he's always good. I think he'll make a damn fine Ben McKinnon.

Ohhh, I definitely want to see all these even though I have not read the books. I got lost there about 10 years ago with all the re-issues and haven't waded back in yet.

I remember (Sorry, I'm in a verbose mood) back in the early 90s and I had read Carnal Innocence by Roberts. Although I didn't really think of it as a romance book I wanted to read more by this author and I had to order in the few books that were listed in the book. I think one was Hot Lips (okay, I remember there being a big set of red lips on the cover so I might be wrong) and another one.

Now, there isn't a romance section in the smallest bookstore that doesn't have a 4' section of her books. I just find it amazing that once upon a time I had to order her books in and now they are every where!

Okay, end story ;)

Ben McKinnon. :sigh: Probably my all time favorite romance hero. John Corbett? Meh -- mostly because I remember him as Aidan in Sex and the City. I liked him as the flaky dj in Northern Exposure.

Hmm, just to be sure, these are going to be movies made for TV right? Hopefully, I'll be able to see them. I kind of agree with Jennie... Not sure that Heather Locker is going to be a good Reece... isn't she a bit too old anyway? Anyway, as long as they stay as close as possible to the book, should be good :D

Cindy--That's funny. Hard to imagine having to order in special a Roberts book. Ever since I've been shopping for romance, she's always had at least 2 full shelves in any bookstore.

I know what you mean about all the reissues. They've started putting this little "NR" seal on her new books, but I don't know if this actually helps with the confusion.

JMC--Mmmm, Ben. Something about John Corbett's laid-back cool guy thing just appeals to me. Maybe he's not quite tough enough to play Ben, but we'll see.

Nath--Yeah, they're made-for-TV movies. On the Lifetime channel-I don't know if y'all get that up by you. Heather Locklear's just too bitchy and aggressive to play Reece, I think. The character is supposed to be vulnerable and scared and I don't know if she can pull that off.

I need to read these ~ Haven't opened up any of them. Angel Falls and Montana Sky have been on my wishlist forever. Hopefully I'll get them read before the movies are broadcast next year!

I'm always leery of movies-from-books specially after seeing how they massacred Sanctuary. I do like John Corbett though - but I'm not so sure about the role of Ben either.

Devonna--I haven't read Blue Smoke and I know I've read Carolina Moon, but I can't remember a thing about it. :) You should definitely check out Montana Sky. It's great.

Kristie--Me, too. I always want to love movies from books, but sometimes they're so bad that it's painful. But that never stops me from watching them anyway, hoping that they'll be as good as the books. :)

I really enjoyed Montana Sky, so that's probably the only one I'm going to check out.

Have you ever seen any of those cheesy tv movies that are based on books? The worst one I've ever seen was For the Roses (julie garwood).

The only one I can think of is Sarah Plain and Tall, which was a Hallmark movie with Glenn Close. Did you ever read that book? I don't remember much about it, but I think I liked the movie.

I know these movies can be awful, but I can't help myself. Especially if it's a book I really liked. Though then you're almost sure to be disappointed. Ah, well, we can hope. :)

Ooh, I'm an Oliver Hudson fan and I'm an even bigger Cade Lavelle fan, oh gosh I can't wait to see this...ooh thanks for the heads up, I'm uber excited for this! I love Carolina Moon...

Lifetime movies are hit or miss for me. And I've only read four NR books, not including the Robb ones. So maybe I'll read the books (which I probably have, I have a million of them) and then catch the movies. I'll let you all know what I think. Sometimes books into movies isn't such a great idea.

Dylan-I've never even heard of Oliver Hudson, but then I can never remember actors' names, so that's not really surprising. ;p I'm going to have to skim back through Carolina Moon, because I can't remember much about it.

Jazz--I know, some books-into-movies are complete crap, but you have to check them out anyway. Who knows maybe these will be good.

I went out and got Montana Sky from the library after your post just so I could read it before the movie was on Lifetime next year. Hopefully, I'll get to it soon!
