I spent the weekend camping with my sister and dad at Hither Hills State Park, which is in Montauk all the way at the tippy end of Long Island. The campground was great--right on the ocean. Literally, it was beach, then a dune, then our campsite. The facilities were acceptable. (We only camp in places with flush toilets and hot showers. NO exceptions. I like nature, but I don't like it THAT much.) The only problem with the campground was that almost everyone there had RVs and generators! Bunch of pansies. I hate the rumble of generators when I'm trying to enjoy some much-needed peace and quiet.
The weather was gorgeous during the day--bright and sunshiney. But it was frigid at night! Oh, I went to sleep with many, many layers on. We went hiking and saw the lighthouse at Montauk Point. And we wandered through a couple little towns in the Hamptons to see how the better half live. (I'd live there if I had a couple million $).
Twin took some very pretty pictures and made a Flicker set here.
