Question for Harry Potter fans

I meant to ask this in yesterday's post but I forgot.

What scene is being depicted on the US cover?!! I have a feeling I'm being really stupid, but Twin and I can't figure it out. Obviously that's Harry and Voldemort, but where are they? Neither have wands in their hands. What are they both looking at? And what is that aqueductlike structure behind them?

Help me out please. It's driving me nutters.

And I promise that after this I'll talk about something other than Harry Potter. :)

Are there people in the background behind them? It looks like they are in front of a group somewhere. And the stones and broken posts in the foreground have to mean something, don't they? And the curtains?

OMG - what scene is this?!?

Yikes - of course the background is behind them. Duh.

Could it be at the end where Potter comes back after Voldemort thought he killed him in front of Hogwarts? I dunno...I can't remember particulars even though I really liked the book.

I can't remember, did they fight in front of Hogwarts, or did it move inside of Hogwarts?

I'm think it's the final showdown scene in Hogwarts, and the ceiling is depicting the sky outside -- it was dawn when the fighting finally ended, wasn't it? And the people in the background is the crowd watching them.

that would be my vote -- that it's warty warty Hogwarts and the fight to the finish. But it does look like a big "accio" moment, doesn't it? No Nagini, so I'm guessing it's the fabulous finish. Will Rafe look even more snakelike in this movie, when we get to it? Here's hoping the director of Order of the Phoenix will stay on -- that was one amazing movie. Of course, I've only seen it once. I understand others have seen it more times than that.....

Interesting Q - I just skimmed through the big showdown scene to check, and Harry has his (or Draco's) wand with him at all times. Also, the scene took place indoors, in the Great Hall.

The building in the background does look like part of Hogwarts to me though. And it's definitely dawn.

I bet the cover artist was probably only given a vague description, hence the inaccuracies!

I think ya'll are right, it must be the last big scene. I was thinking maybe it was the moment when Harry has disarmed Voldemort, just before Voldemort's killing curse rebounds on him. Harry is reaching for the Elder Wand as it flies through the air toward him, and Voldemort is cringing back from his Avada Kedavra curse. Hmm? But then, Harry should have Draco's wand in his hand.

So it's not quite right. I want to write to the artist and ask. I had thought that she got a manuscript (because she does all the illustrations at the chapter openers too, doesn't she?) But maybe she's just told what to draw, and that's why it doesn't quite fit.

It is a pretty drawing though.

I'm not sure about the covers though, but yeah I like it. I think the UK version is extremely great too.

BTW, I enjoyed reading your blog and will add your link on my blogroll. :)

Ah. Well my mis-informed friends this is of course the scene where Ron (not Voldemort) got Anaemia when he and Harry were visiting the Acropolis. They are in this picture hailing a cab to get him to the hospital.

Of course.
