DNF: After the Night

I know, I know. It's a classic! I got halfway through and had to give it up. I think part of the problem was genre whiplash. From Carla Kelly to this was a little much. But I just couldn't take any more Gray--talk about a guy who's led around by his dick. Horny bastard. Blech.

But I'm keeping it because I think when I'm in the right mood, I might like it better.

Oh man, Jennie! You have to try it again. Of course, it does seem that Gray and Faith don't have much in common and so, it seems that all there is between them is physical attraction. I still like that book tho...

Who's the author of this one?

Glad to see you're not giving up completely cause I love this one. :) But sometimes for whatever reason, books just don't seem to work.

awwww, I can't remember why I liked this one so much, but it's been on my keeper shelf ever since I finished it. You should try to give it another shot if you can :)

I didn't like that the hero in this one was just a walking erection either. What I loved about this book was the heroine. She's in my top 5 favorite romance heroines list.

Nath--exactly! I just couldn't understand why Faith was in love with Gray--from when she was a kid to when she met him again as an adult. He was pretty horrible to her all the time.

Marg--this is Linda Howard.

Kristie--I know. It's such a favorite with so many people. But then we all have our own weird preferences, don't we! ;)

Jay--Long time, no see! (This is yapaway jay, right?) Glad to see you've emerged from school for a bit. :)

Samantha--Yeah, the heroine was pretty good, the way she made something of her life afer everything she'd been through. But it wasn't enough to keep me reading. Maybe I'll get back to it sometime.

Genre Whiplash - perfect description! I think I've done that where I have read a great historical romance and then dived into a chick-lit-ish paranormal.

I also over did it when I read For My Lady's Heart by Kinsale and then immediately tried to read ShadowHeart by her. Just too serious for too long. I've never finished Shadow Heart but I'm hoping I'll get back to it one day.

I'm trying to remember this Howard but I think the cousin thing was more of an issue for me. Somehow though it's on my keeper shelf while Son of Morning, All the Queens Men and Kill and Tell didn't make the cut. (I still have them in case my taste change but I haven't yet wanted to re-read any of these three)

Well since you haven't finished reading the books, he does get better. But in the beginning, he's quite horrible yeah. The thing tho is that Faith is awesome... I wish I was as strong as her :) Still, this is a good book :P

I've never read a Linda Howard book! Guess I might not make this one be my first...

Cindy--Yeah, it's hard to get your head wrapped around a genre when it's completely different from what you've been reading! This is only my second Howard, and I don't know if she's really my cup of tea.

Nath--Yeah, I did like Faith a lot.

Ames--Read it again and see if you don't think Gray is horny bastard. Just a little. ;p

Colleen--Lots of people really love this book, especially people who like alpha heroes. So I dunno. Maybe I'm an odd duck. :)

Hi Zeek! This is only my second Howard, and I'm thinking maybe she's just not for me. We'll see, maybe I'll pick it up again some day.

I heard so many good things about this book, constant recommendations for me to read it as it was one of the only LH books that I hadn't read. And in the end I was disappointed in it as well.

LMAO! While I didn't hate this book it definetly wasn't one of my favorite LH's. But it did end well, and I liked it in the end pretty much.

Valeen--Woo hoo! I'm not the only one! I get sort of worried when I really don't like a book every one else loves. What's wrong with me?!! LOL.

Jazz--I didn't get to the end, though I did flip forward to see who the bad guy was. I did like that surprise. :)
