Single-mindedness

Some people seem to be able to read several books at one time. (I mean, not at the exact same time, obviously. Can you imagine?--double-fisting it with books. LOL.) But they can read three chapters of one book, then read some of a different one, and then go back to the first. I really don't do this. Once I start a book, I always finish it or delegate it to the DNF pile before moving on to something else. I think it has to do with not wanting to let myself be distracted from the world that's been created in a book. If I start another one, I get involved with that story and those characters and I don't want to leave them.

But then, I am single-minded about pretty much everything in my life. I'm not so much with the multi-tasking. I can't do anything else while watching TV. And even listening to music while reading is distracting. And while I may be the most indecisive person ever, once I finally make a decision I barrel forward without looking back. So I'm single-minded that way too.

Did everyone hear that they're going to print 12 million of the new Harry Potter? That blows me away. 126 days!! Look at my sidebar--I put Mugglenet's countdown there. Woot! If you want one, you can get the code here.

And snow storms in March hurt my soul a little.

Happy weekend everyone!

Hey Jennie :D

so how much snow did you get? We usually get at least a snowstorm for Easter T_T so it wasn't surprising to get snow today (30cm), even after the nice weather we had :)

Being single-mind is not a bad thing :) I usually read so fast, so I don't have the opportunity to read many books at the same time...

by the way, congrats for winning the book over at Ames :D

Yes, snow storms in march aren't good for the soul. I was basking in the upper 60's weather we were having when BOOM! It went back down to the low 30's.

I'm usually always reading several books at once, but I can't do the read a few chapters then switch thing. I usually have one book that I'm reading for class, one book that I take everywhere with me for when I get bored waiting for something or inbetween classes, and then my before bed reading. And that's usually it.

Nath--I didn't know I won over at Ames's! Woo hoo! :)

We didn't get all that much snow really--maybe 2-3 inches? But it was this awful sleety windy mess. Luckily, it's melting really fast today.

You're right--you read so fast I don't think you have need of switching around. LOL.

Samantha--We had a 70-degree day last week, and it was so lovely. Sigh.

I can see reading one book for school, then having a fun book going too. But I couldn't have a bedtime book and a carry-around-with-me book. Whatever I'm reading, I'm carrying it around. No matter how bulky. Which is why I have a rather large purse. :)

I can read up to 2 books at one, but not more than that.

I'm always reading at least two, one on my ebook reader (which I usually only read at home... I'm terrified of someone stealing my purse *g*), and one print, that I take with me when I go out. But actually, most often I'm reading more than that... if the one on the ebook reader and the print book are all romance, I'm usually also reading something else non-romance.
