TBR update

My TBR was sort of taking over my (very small) bedroom, so I did some pruning. I managed to weed out about 60 books that I decided I was never going to read. Then I was actually able to get everything that was left into the little bookshelf I have--instead of in piles on the floor all around. See the result:
The mass markets are double-stacked and those piles on top are getting a little precarious, but hey, they're in there.

I felt so good about it that what did I do? I went out and bought some books. (It's a sickness, I tell you.)

I bought:
Certain Girls, Jennifer Weiner (she cracks me up)
A Great and Terrible Beauty, Libba Bray (I've heard great things about this)
Moon Called, Patricia Briggs (it's urban fantasy, which I'm not so keen on, but I've heard it's good)
Passages, Lois McMaster Bujold (autobuy--and it's on sale at Amazon for $17!)
False Colours, Georgette Heyer (the new pretty Sourcebooks edition--and it's about twins!)

I needed all those books. I really did.

LOL - I just had to click through to enlarge your pic.

Can't believe the Miles books are still in your TBR! Cetaganda (in Miles, Mystery & Mayhem) is one of my favs.

We have so many of the same books, though you probably have more historical fiction than I do :-)

Of your new books, I'm obviously a big Briggs fan. And False Colours is one of my favourite Heyers. And I really want to know what you think of Passages.

I am with Li, I wanted to see all the titles of the books you have, so I clicked on the picture too. Whenever I visit someone's house, I always look at their collection of books (if they have one). I think it gives good insight into the person.

I just finished the Mercy Thompson series and am all caught up. Of course, I am chomping at the bit for the next one. You have a lot of fantasitic titles in yout pile. Oooh, lucky you!

I just picked up a copy of The Spanish Bride. What a gorgeous cover :)

Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed when I look at my TBR stack, but mostly I just get giddy. :-)

Love the picture. Good luck getting through them and then adding lots more! :)

Are you going to review False Colours? Be fun to read a review written by a twin...

Have you really not read the Miles books yet?

I adore Libba Bray's books; she is definitely not just a YA author--excellent decision on "A Great and Terrible Beauty."

Heyer's "False Colours" is good fun, too.

Have fun reading!

Li--I know, I know! I really need to get to those Miles books. I want to. And I was going to read Passages next, but now that I've finally finished Grimspace (I managed to get through it!) I feel like I need a break from scifi. :( Maybe I'll do False Colours next. That will clean the palate for Bujold. :p

Jill--I always love looking at people's books--it is an excellent way to get to know people. The Briggs series sounds good--I'll definitely be giving it a shot soon.

jmc--All the Sourcebooks editions are pretty--much better than the ones Harlequin put out in mass market a few years ago.

Em--I get overwhelmed by my TBR too! There's just not enough time to keep up with everything I want to read. But I just like buying books so I don't think I'll ever change. ;)

Marianne--I'll definitely review False Colours. I'm always interested to see what authors do with twins. And I know, I know, I need to finish Miles--but there are so many of them! It feels like I'll never get caught up.

Rachel--The blurb on the back of the Libba Bray book was very intriguing. It sounds great. :)

LOL, I say you deserved buying books after pruning... I mean, you got rid of 60 and bought only 6... you're still ahead LOL :)

ps- what did you think of Grimspace? Looks like you had a hard time with it too...

Your TBR is nothing. I think I can fit about 20 more books on that thing. May be more if we can move some things around. I see you have some good taste in there.

Nath-You're right! I'm way ahead--I can buy books for a while without feeling guilty. And I've just posted about Grimspace. Yeah, not exactly my cuppa.

Princess Allie--Lol. I'm sure it'll get jam-packed again soon. :)

Jennie, well done on the stacking. LOL Your bookself is way tidier than my larger one. About time to spring clean my stash. *sigh*

Very well done!! Now you know anything you pick out is something you really want to read. I've been thinking it might be time to prune again but I did it about 4 years ago so maybe another year and then I'll go in ;)

And I'm with Nath. A new book is never a bad thing!

Oooh I loved the Libba Bray books and the Mercedes Thompson series is fun too. :) I'm going to have to zoom in on these and see what else we've got in common. Let us know what you think of Passages, I've really loved Bujold in the past but thought the Sharing Knife was pretty awful. (sorry if you liked it!) BTW, I just read Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and it's totally worth adding to your list if you haven't yet!
