Maybe part of the problem we have with this book is that it's not really a romance, even though we wanted/expected it to be! ;)

Rosario--Yeah, Rachel had been through a lot, so we can understand why she'd be so prickly. But I would have liked her to have some appreciation for the opportunity that Gabriel was giving her. Even if she'd stayed with Mary she'd still have been a servant. Instead she gets to marry an angel! Which sounds like a slightly better option to me.Jenniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05804281162557876557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161614055875160072006-10-23T10:34:00.000-04:002006-10-23T10:34:00.000-04:00Excellent review, Jennie! Also, remember Mary was already about to free her when Gabriel found her, so the way Rachel saw it, he didn't free her, he took her opportunities to be free from her and forced her into what she at first saw as just another form of captivity.

Re: the free will and predestined lovers thing: you might see it a bit differently after reading Jovah's Angel. That's all I'm going to say, because I don't want to spoil it for you. You definitely should read it. Oh, and the person who wrote that front-page blurb should be taken outside and shot!Rosariohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13015659149421085931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161597281363985772006-10-23T05:54:00.000-04:002006-10-23T05:54:00.000-04:00I had a 'meh' reaction to this book and felt no ne...I had a 'meh' reaction to this book and felt no need to pursue the rest of her books. I'm surprised at how many people really liked this book. I'm not areligious or anything so I know that didn't bother me. I was just expecting more and like I said at Rosario's, I can't read about musicians or music. It's like reading Shakespeare vs. seeing it on the stage. Two completely different experiences.

Oh and the faith thing - totally agree with you ;)

CindySCindyShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18349459903336460467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161564671317581042006-10-22T20:51:00.000-04:002006-10-22T20:51:00.000-04:00Well, if you decide not to read it, I'll give you ...Well, if you decide not to read it, I'll give you the short version at work :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161553361637373682006-10-22T17:42:00.000-04:002006-10-22T17:42:00.000-04:00Dora--Hmmm. You don't want to know too much about a book before you read it. Easier to make up your own mind about it if you're not remembering what everyone else said. :)Jenniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05804281162557876557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161537371799745102006-10-22T13:16:00.000-04:002006-10-22T13:16:00.000-04:00I just checked to see what grade you gave this, di...I just checked to see what grade you gave this, didn't read the review. LOL I'm bad for that, but I don't want to know anything about this book until I read it. Hey, it's what I do with books that get good grades and kind of have hype around them. :P

Glad you're back. (I know I've said that already, but it's still good.)~ames~https://www.blogger.com/profile/17683205224039402987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22655888.post-1161462035812538932006-10-21T16:20:00.000-04:002006-10-21T16:20:00.000-04:00The spaceship thing and scifi categorization are e...The spaceship thing and scifi categorization are explained to your heart's content in the second Samaria novel, Jovah's Angel. I liked that one a lot more than Archangel.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
